"Young Sherlock Holmes" Tracking Down "Lion King" Writer

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Paramount is in talks with "The Lion King 1 1/2" writer Evan Spiliotopoulos to write the script for the remake of "Young Sherlock Holmes," TheWrap has learned.

Chris Columbus, is producing for the studio.

The story follows Sherlock Holmes and John Watson as they meet as teenagers in England, and embark on a series of sleuthing adventures.

Columbus (pictured) wrote the original "Young Sherlock Holmes," which was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, and directed by Barry Levinson.

Released in 1985, the story centered on Holmes and Watson after they meet at a British boarding school and stumble upon a series of murders.

Paramount's Sherlock Holmes franchise would reportedly skew younger than the Warner Brothers take on the British sleuth, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

Upcoming films for Spiliotopoulos include "Moby Dick." He is repped by UTA. Columbus credits include "Night at the Museum" and "The Help." Paramount did not respond to requests from TheWrap for comment.
